    You can extend apply for AP (Advance Parole) ;-) at anytime provided you have your 485 pending so there should be no "risks"

    only risk i see is that what if you have to travel and for some reason your H1 stamping gets delayed (if you have a AP you will be safe there)

    Also their processing times keep on fluctuating - what if you later down the road are
    in need of AP apply for one and then dont get it approved by the time you want to travel

    Personally I prefer to just keep things simple and apply for AP renewals even though
    I wont use them - just so that there is no "divergence" from the norm
    Just so when USCIS officer is processing your case they wont have to think or
    issue query to get clarification etc etc

    All,
    Now that Aug is coming up, please post all the 485 LUDs that you have been seeing after 07/18/2008. This will help us getting the pattern, in case USCIS shall auto order the Card production.

    no one is auto-ordering card production (whatever that means).

    lets stick with vdlrao's thread to track Augusts approvals please. no need for another thread for teh same topic.

    Hi - i am converting my L1 to F1 which will cover me for 2.5 years. In the field i am working in, there is a high probability i will be able to find work before the degree is finished. Is it usual for big employers to already have H1 visas to sponser you on, or do they have to start from scratch. Im really trying to find out how easy it would be for a prospective employer to hire me after. (yes i am aware that one is supposed to return back to their country of origin)

    I did paper filing (TSC) and got EAD in less then 3 weeks. I filed on 3/7 and got it on 3/26. I think you should get it soon.

    So I've been out of school for just about 3 weeks now and haven't done much shooting lately. Took the family up into the mountains today and grabbed the camera and a 50mm lens...nothing else (including the spare battery that I'd need soon after :mad: ). Anyway, I couldn't get a decent shot of anything that I "saw". Very disappointing to say the least.

    Now, This is the best of about 10 shots I was able to take before I needed the aforementioned spare battery. My fault, I didn't check the charge level and I forgot the spare....whoops.

    Anyway, while walking through the woods, this stump caught my eye. I'm not entirely sure why, but it did. Now here I am looking at a photo of a stump. It's a nice enough stump, I suppose and might be nicer if that branch to the right wasn't there but I'm curious to see if I'm going crazy or if there's anything actually worthwhile in this shot (something more than a snapshot- but not by much.)

    This is I am assuming you have given USCIS your NJ address, every Lawyer has to have License in the State he practices, if your CA Lawyer has a License to practice in NJ you can always call him to represent you. If this helps.
    The work around would be hire a local Lawyer and let your CA lawyer brief your case to him I know it will be expensive, but it will help you in long run.

    Yes, Im aware of the Cronin memo, and also the clarification on murthy.com below

    But, If you read the memo correctly, the language is vague at best, with references to a final rule that I couldnt find. Even the interim memo(Cronin) isnt available from the USCIS website.

    My goal was not to restart the discussion on this. I simply wanted suggestions on how to approach USCIS to get clarity on this situation. Some options would be

    1. Call USCIS : but do the people answering the call know the rules, and is their "interpretation" valid ?

    2. Get an Infopass appt: Again, an IO may not be the right person responding to this

    3. Contact the USCIS director : possible? how?

    4. Contact AILA

    5. Contact the Ombudsman

    If anyone has thoughts and suggestions about how to get this clarified, please advise. My goal is to get a document from USCIS authoritatively stating their stance on this situation.

    Hello,
    I am stuck in India (along with my husband who) after leaving USA where I am living for over 5 years. I just came for 2 wks here in India to get stamping done at the Chennai Consulate. They kept my passport and said they will give visa, in next 3-4wks..Its past a month and 3 wks.. I am force to live with relatives. I can't even go to my home country without my passport. Everything I own is back in USA. How do I get back to it? I am on H4 and my husband is H1B. I am holding another country's nationality. I can't even visit my home country without my passport. Why did the Consulate kept the passports for this long? :confused:Why are we being treated this way?? Why didn't they do a security check where I was living for over 5 years? I am so frustrated being stuck and worry about my home left unattended back in the US.

    Any advise? Can I contact someone to help expedite this process?

    It's only IV members. We did decide on few things last time, We have some new ideas, to talk. Obviously we need more people to carry on with the efforts...There are several private bills that are being placed in the queue as well as I see a separate bill for foreign nurses is coming up for discussion, we I feel we should talk to our lawmakers to bail us out of the EB-3/EB-2 India/china messWho other than IV is expected or invited in this call? Do we have any agenda, or just a brain storming?

    Can anyone tell me what is ADIT processing?

    I am assuming that you got 485 approval letter and it talks about ADIT.
    I think there was a long and detailed reply by somebody on this forum about ADIT


    Do some research and PLEASE put complete details in the post if you want a meaningful answer.

    The Original Post said he was contracting for Federal Govt. It is possible to contract with most Depts on H-b, EAD , GC regardless of your immigration status.

    It is not true, that it is not possible to work in Fed Govt on H1 or EAD. Hundreds of contractors work for the Federal govt in DC area who are on H1-Bs.

    hello,

    My question is about getting the visa after 6 years. I know that you can apply for 1 year extentions each year until your case is closed. We have applied and were approved. Our attorney said we had 2 choices to get the VISA issued.Either we go to our country and get it or we can go to Bahamas for a day and get it. Apperently, Bahamas and US has an agreement and they do it very quick.

    What happens if we do not get the VISA stamp on our passports? I mean we are working and do not want to leave the country,dowe still have to get the actual VISA? Do we have a problem next year when we apply for extention if we do not get the visa stampped this year?
    Visa is required when you have to travel outside US and reenter again.You can get as many extensions as possible by the law.visa stamp is not a problem for your next extension.

    Does anybody know what the best consulates (preferably in Mexico) to go for H1B stamps are? I am getting my H1-B transfer approved in the next weeks and I want to go ahead and get the passport stamp in order to travel.
    My first H1-B I went to Ciudad Juarez Mexico, and unfortunately I arrived the morning of 9/11/01, I was able to cross onto Juarez shortly after they closed down the borders.. Bad experience all in all. took 4 days longer to get back home to San Antonio and had to take a bus.

    In 2004 I went to the consulate in Matamoros and it was the worst. They DID not have a record of me ever having made an appt for a visa stamp (even though I called and scheduled one) and again, the whole ordeal took 3 days too long.

    Does anybody know any good consulates? I was told Monterrey Mexico is very good. Any suggestions appreciated.
