OK, following on from my previous message... My 'issue' got 'escalated' and I spoke to someone higher up the AppleCare pecking order (a Frenchman). He said that there might be a problem with this firmware update and my machine's specs [my speculation - the brand of SuperDrive (Sony DW-D150A)? my processor (dual 3GHz)?]. He 'felt sure that I wouldn't be the only person worldwide having this problem' (didn't tell him about this thread or a similar one on Apple's own forums), and will get back to me within 48 hours having spoken to Apple Engineering to see if his theory holds true. Time will tell!

you will get more help and more tutorials on a flash specific board... check out kirupa's forums and also http://studiowhiz.com 's forums. both are pretty great. also, flash has the best built in help system of any application i have ever experienced, so you may not even have to hit the boards or external tutorials.

Ok so maybe off track but how much longer can the Darwin/Mach underpinings of both OS X and iOS last?
How long till we get to a much better way of doing the lowest level of stuff that Apple starts transitioning the OS to a new kernal. Reading the wiki page for the Mach kernal it would seem many of Mach functions are either duplicated or at least extracted in to newer OS features like grand central. Plus they've put alot of investment in to the LLVM compiler chain.
I guess I'm wondering if "the Future of iOS and OS X" doesn't involve Mach? Lion/5 being the last in that line. With Apple taking the WWDC to discuss what's coming after these two as much as what's in these two. You'd imagine that transition would be a two year public plan to make sure developers are getting themselves ready and it seems like Lion/5 will be in reasonable shape for those that need to delay a the transition for their own work reasons.
Makes it sound like Apple will keep the two brandings to distinguish the two user experiences.

Man com on Apple! Really! I RUN MY LIFE BY MY IPHONE ALARM CLOCK! I NEVER planed on a back up BEFORE my iPhone when daylight savings time happened why should I NOW? Get this right or I'm leaving for the other phone that has never had this, oh wait, yes they did. Yeah, I'm sure millionaire Cowell really cares. Whoever was the poor winner of the X-factor will be used and spat out by him regardless if he gets to no1 or not.
Simon is an interesting character. He seems to have profited greatly off humiliating people on live television and has a unique position of capturing the attention of people on television, but also the airwaves.
Yeah that just about sums it up.
My only gripe that in in a normal year you need to sell 170,000-250,000 records to get Christmas number one, the X-factor single has already passed this mark so unfortunately it looks like more people have been buying it to prevent Rage winning. So Cowell wins either way, no such thing as bad publicity.
Incidentally, I'm not savvy with reality TV (I prefer reality) or FaceSpace Books, I heard Zane Lowe play the song about a week ago and thought, what a classic, I haven't heard that for years and went out and downloaded it. I don't agree with the people saying it's not a good song, in 1992 Tom Morello's guitar playing was groundbreaking and the lyrics ideally suit this chart battle.
But to paraphrase another Rage song, you can't rebel by buying something.

Cool. Some people say it's fake but I know for a fact that it is legit unless someone photoshopped the Banner in... but it looks very Apple so all it is is another reason to get stoked :)

Every update I see people come on Apple Discussions claim that the update fried their computer. Nothing can be farther from the truth. Without certain precautions data corruption, directory issues, font issues, incompatible drivers, will make an update look bad on the surface. That's why I wrote this FAQ to prevent most upgrade problems. Please everyone take a look at it before you upgrade and decide for yourself when you are ready and finished with those precautions:

Perhaps, but T-Mobile's major problem is coverage rather than saturation. (Although T-Mobile has filled in its gaps primarily with AT&T coverage agreements.) There aren't all that many people competing for AWS 3G service right now, even in places like New York and San Francisco, and that's precisely where the AT&T-only iPhone needs help.
That's why I tend to think an Apple MVNO approach would make a lot of sense, to stitch together T-Mobile, AT&T, and perhaps some smaller regional carriers into a single "best service available" iPhone/iPad network. An MVNO could better manage coverage gaps and high demand areas across carriers.
